Dave Long
Principle Owner Staticworx™, Inc.
Dave Long has been solving facilities-related static electricity problems for over 30 years. To read Dave's articles, click here. A speaker and consultant at many Fortune 500 companies, Dave is recognized throughout the U.S. as the foremost authority on static control flooring for applications ranging from medical device manufacturing, semiconductor fabrication to munitions and ordnance handling facilities. He has been on the frontline in developing new technology ESD flooring materials intended for static mitigation in leading edge class-zero ESD sensitive environments such as MR head and laser diode manufacturing. Dave's technical articles and research papers have been published in numerous electronics and construction magazines and journals, including Conformity Magazine, EE Magazine, Compliance Engineering, Controlled Environments, Emergency Number Professionals Magazine (ENPM), and Flooring Magazine.
Dave’s practical construction experience combined with his extensive background in the physics of electrostatics provides his clients with a hands-on approach that takes the full scope of a project into consideration, from concrete testing and preparation to the choice of adhesives and membranes, through maintenance and repair. Dave graduated Suma Cum Laude from Boston College and is a member of Alpha Sigma Nu, the Jesuit National Honor Society.
Prior to forming Staticworx™, Dave was vice president of New Product Development at Julie Industries; while at Julie Industries, he developed and established the StaticSmart brand name. Dave is a former Executive Vice President of United Technical Products (UTP), a Fidelity Capital company.
Staticworx™, Inc. has been providing Staticworx™ and Staticworx™ products, including ESD flooring, floor tile and mats, and peripheral ESD products, to clients nationwide since 1973. Staticworx™ services end-users in manufacturing, industrial, municipal and government facilities, as well as flooring installers, contractors and architects.
Staticworx™ familiarizes clients with current ESD standards and specifications and helps them develop and implement a best-practice Total ESD Protection Program for their facilities and personnel. And Staticworx™ assists customers with the specifics of selecting and installing the various conductive adhesives. Staticworx™ also trains and educates architects and engineers about ESD and ESD specifications and provides online assistance in understanding the performance parameters of conductive, dissipative and antistatic floors and ESD carpet.
In addition to its manufacturing operation, Staticworx™ has negotiated strategic supply agreements with manufacturers and raw materials suppliers around the world to produce best of class ESD flooring products at highly competitive price points. These long-term agreements eliminate performance and aesthetic problems, including dye lot variation, color matching, specification consistency and compliance with ESD standards, such as ANSI S20-20.
